Welcome To Greenville
South Carolina
We really appreciate you as our guest, so here are some tips and
house rules we’d like to share to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Things to Know About the House:
1. Climate Control: There is a Nest thermostat in the hallway. It should be programmed for the optimal settings during your stay at whatever time of the year you are staying with us. Feel free to adjust this as needed. If you are not familiar with how to use it, please see this video from Google.
2. Backyard String Lights: To control the string lights around the pool in yard, there is a small white switch above the kitchen garbage can. Please turn them off when you go in at night to conserve energy.
3. Sink Disposal: This house has cast iron pipes in the kitchen so please do not put anything more than minor scraps into the sink disposal. To turn on the disposal, there is a button on the top right corner of the sink. Press this down to turn it both on and off and make sure there is water running when it is turned on.
4. Patio: The patio has a light and a fan that are both controlled by a remote next to the left panel of the back door. There should also be a citronella candle on the table to use in the summer months for pesky mosquitos - they are part of the southern charm :)
5. To connect to the WiFi:
Network: MySpectrumWiFi78-2G
Password: adorablestraw226
6. Entertainment: There is a TV in every room except the office. They are all smart TV’s so feel free to log into your any of your streaming channels, but please make sure to log out when you leave if you do not want others to access them after your visit. There are board games and puzzles under in the TV console of the living room and a record player in the office. Please treat the records with care.
7. Security System: The area is very safe and there is little to no crime but since we are not in the area most of the year, the house is equipped with a Simplisafe alarm system. Please note, if you’d like to use it, set it to home mode if you are at home and away if you leave. If set to home mode, please make sure to turn it off by entering your key code into the box by the laundry room before opening any doors or windows so it doesn’t trip the alarm. If you set to away mode, this will automatically turn off when you enter your keycode on the pad outside. If it does trigger the alarm, I may be able to turn it off remotely if you don’t catch it in time. There is also a doorbell camera on the front door which only records when it is triggered.
8. Pet Policy. We add on a fee for pets strictly for extra services that our cleaning staff requires. We do understand that allowing pets will always require a little extra vacuuming and mopping, but please do your best to clean up after your pet by using the blankets on the couches and picking up any poop outside. There is a pooper scooper near the HVAC unit and bags in the cabinet above the laundry. If a pet happens to have an accident inside and soils any rugs, linens or furniture, there will unfortunately be a charge for the cost of replacing that item.
9. Kids. Greenville is a super kid-friendly town. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for a list of fun things to do with your kids. If you have an infant, there is a pack n’ play you can use in the queen bedroom closet. Please make sure to watch your kids around the pool and firepit at all times.
10. The Fire Pit: We provide wood for the firepit. There should be a bundle in the wood holder in front of the shed in the back. If there is no wood there, feel free to grab some from the wood pile in the driveway. In the unlikely event that this wood pile has been exhausted of all firewood, please let me know. We always refill this every Spring with more than enough wood for the year.
IMPORTANT: Please be cautious and don’t build a bonfire or any fire that is large enough to spill outside of the fire ring. Please make sure to extinguish any flames before going to bed, there is often dry pine needles around the fire pit that can act as kindling and cause a larger fire.
11. Garbage: If you are facing the house from the street, the garbage pails are located on the left side of the house between two fence panels. There are many animals in the area and the occasional black bear has been seen rummaging through garbage in the neighborhood, so please make sure not to leave any garbage out of the pails for them to sniff out.
HUGE FAVOR: If you are staying with us on a Tuesday, please pull the garbage pails down to the street on Tuesday for Wednesday AM pickup and back up after pickup if you are still there. If you are checking in on a Wednesday, the pails may be at the street - please pull them back up so you have easier access and we don’t get fined by the county. Since we dont have the option to keep the cans at the street, we thank you so much for helping out with this!
The Stock Tank Pool
1. Pool Season: The pool is seasonal and unless Mother Nature has other plans, it will be closed from early-November to mid-April. Greenville has mild weather most of the year, but it does freeze in the winter months which can (and has) cost us a new pool pump. We apologize if you had other expecations, but we promise there is a lot to enjoy during in cooler months in Greenville.
2. Cleaning: We do our best to keep the pool as clean as possible, it is maintained by our staff between stays. The pump is only so powerful though and debris gets into the pool from trees, wind and general use. Please skim the pool as needed with the skimmer that is hanging on the fence. There is also chlorine and test strips / chemicals in under the bench seats on the deck. Feel free to test and add chlorine as needed. Please do not bring food or any glass in or close to the pool. We do have red plastic cups in the kitchen to use around the pool for drinks.
IMPORTANT: We want you to have fun and enjoy the pool as much as possible, but please do your best to help keep in clean. If we have to empty and refill the pool because the water is overly contaminated we do charge a $250 cleaning fee. We have never had to charge anyone, so please don’t make the record books :)
3. Hours: We have neighbors so we ask that you only use the pool between the hours of 9am and 10pm to keep the noise to a minimum. We don’t want the cops to show up on your late night pool party. Unfortunately, this has happened more than once.
Checking Out
Before you go, we have a few things we ask that you do:
1. Checkout time is at 10 AM. If you cannot be out of the house by then, we charge a late fee of $25. We need time to get the house ready for our next guests, so please consider that :)
2. Make sure you have everything that’s yours. Check under the beds, couches, in the fridge and cupboards for any belongings you may have left behind. We would have to charge a shipping fee to send anything to you that has been left behind and we can’t guarantee you will receive it right away. Also, don’t forget to log out of any streaming channels you may have logged into during your stay.
3. Save Energy. Please turn off all the lights and please set the thermostat to (AC) 75 degrees in summer and (heat) 62 in winter.
4. Laundry. Please strip the bed(s) and place the bed sheets, quilts / blankets into the hamper in laundry room. Place all used bath and pool towels into the washing machine and IF you can fit them, any bedsheets and run a wash. There are laundry pods in the cabinets above the washing machine. If there is no detergent, please leave those items in the washing machine with lid open and the rest in the hamper.
5. Dishwashing. Please put any used cups, dishes, silverware etc. in the dishwasher and run it. There is dishwashing detergent under the kitchen sink. If there is no detergent, please leave these items in the dishwasher.
6. Garbage. Please take all trash out and place in the bins on the left side of the house (if you’re facing it from the street). The bins are set between two fence panels just outside the larger fence gate. Only use the larger bins provided by the county. The smaller ones are strictly for any rare overflow. If you are leaving on a Tuesday, please do us a favor and pull the trash bins down to the street so it can be collected on Wednesday morning.
7. Windows & Door Locks. Make sure all the windows are shut and locked. When you leave, make sure to press “LOCK” on the keypad and assure the door is locked. You may have to press lock twice, the door lock sometimes gets jammed.
Thank you for following all these check out rules!
It helps us to keep it clean and efficient for all of our guests.
